Birding is our passion! We are based right in the middle of, arguably, the best birding area in the US and our mission is to provide you with the best birding experience possible. You never know what you might see!
Capt. Tommy and his experienced guides will teach you as much as you want to learn on how to ID the over 400 species that have been documented along the Texas Coastal Bend. It is very possible to see over 100 species when combining our coastal and inland birding trips.
We have Nikon binoculars and spotting scopes on board for our clients to share. It is a great opportunity to try Nikon's awesome line of Birding and Sport Optics if you are in the market to upgrade your optics.
Coastal Birding
There is no better way to see an abundance of coastal birds than aboard the Skimmer! Effortlessly gliding along shorelines and around oyster reefs to view the magnificent Whooping Cranes and other species is the way to go. Whether you sit on our comfortable bench seating or stand on our elevated decks the view is 360 degrees. Our shallow 2.5 ft draft allows us access to habitat the no other high capacity vessel in the area can offer.
We travel north across Aransas Bay and into the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge where we will find the rare Whooping Cranes. We typically get you within 100 yards of these incredible birds. And on occasion we find ourselves within 10 yards! We take our time and watch these birds stalk the marsh in search of Blue Crabs. It is truly a site to behold even if you are not a birding enthusiast.
We typically point out 30 to 60 different species during our 3.5 hour trip and if you are interested, we will help you learn to ID them.

Inland Birding
Join one of our experienced local guides to bird the the Coastal Bend's inland hot spots. If you have target species you would like to see we will take you to habitat where you are most likely to see those birds. Should you just want to see as much as the area has to offer, just hop in and enjoy the ride! It is not uncommon to pick up over 100 species in a single day of birding.

Private Birding Charters
We offer private charters aboard both The Skimmer or our shallow water skiff. These trips are perfect for the discriminating birder who wants to get away from the crowd or the photographer or group of photographers who want to spend the time necessary to get that perfect shot.

Shallow Water Skiff: 1/2 Day $350 Full Day $500
Up to 4 persons may go on private skiff trips.
